How to Test Free Courses in ClickFunnels 2.0 | Comprehensive Step-by-Step Guide

Before you launch your course to the world, it’s vital to test it thoroughly. You want to know exactly what your customers will see and experience, so there are no surprises. This guide will show you how to create a test user, enroll them in your course, and explore the content from their perspective.

Creating a Test Contact

First things first, you need to create a test contact. This will be your “student” as you walk through the course.

  • Navigate to Contacts: Head over to the Customers section in the left-hand navigation menu, then click on Contacts.
  • Add a New Contact: In the top right corner, click Add Contact. Enter the email address you’ll use for testing. This can be any email you have access to.
  • Fill in Necessary Information: The only required field here is the email address. You can skip the other details since this is just for testing.
  • Create the Contact: Scroll down and click Create Contact. Your new test contact will appear at the top of the list.

Enrolling Your Test Contact in Courses

Now that you have your test contact, it’s time to enroll them in the courses you want to test.

  • Access the Contact Profile: Click on the newly created contact from the list to open their profile.
  • Go to the Enrollments Tab: At the top of the profile, you’ll see several tabs. Click on Enrollments.
  • Add Enrollment: On the right side, click Add Enrollment. Select the courses you want to test by checking the boxes next to them.
  • Save the Enrollment: Once you’ve selected all the courses, click Save. Your test contact will now be enrolled in those courses.

Accessing the Course as a Test User

With your test contact enrolled, it’s time to experience the course as a student.

  • Check Your Email: Open the email inbox you used for the test contact. You should receive emails granting access to the courses.
  • Open in Incognito Mode: Instead of just clicking the access link, right-click (or Control-click on a Mac) and select Open Link in Incognito Window. This ensures you’re viewing the course as a brand-new user without any saved data from your admin account.
  • Log In and Explore: Log in using the test contact’s credentials. From here, you can start exploring the course.

Exploring the Course Content

Now that you’re inside the course as a student, it’s time to dig around and make sure everything works perfectly.

  • Navigate Through the Course: Click through each module and lesson. Make sure the content loads properly and that everything is organized correctly.
  • Mark Lessons as Complete: Test the functionality of marking lessons as complete. This is how students track their progress.
  • Restart Lessons: Try restarting lessons to see how the course handles previously completed content.

Reviewing the User Experience

As you explore the course, keep an eye out for anything that seems off.

  • Check for Issues: Look for broken links, missing content, or anything else that might confuse or frustrate your students.
  • Make Adjustments: If you find any problems, jot them down. You can go back into ClickFunnels and make the necessary adjustments before launch.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Sometimes, things don’t go as planned. Here’s what to do if you encounter problems during testing.

  • Email Not Received: If you don’t see the course access emails, check your spam folder. Still nothing? Double-check that you used the correct email address and try sending the enrollment again.
  • Content Not Loading: If a lesson or module isn’t loading correctly, it could be an issue with the course setup. Review your course settings in ClickFunnels to ensure everything is properly configured.
  • Can’t Mark Lessons as Complete: If the option to mark a lesson as complete isn’t working, it may be a glitch in the system. Try refreshing the page or restarting the test. If the problem persists, you may need to review your course settings.
  • Other Issues: For any other issues that crop up, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We specialize in troubleshooting ClickFunnels 2.0, and we can often come up with a workaround while you work with ClickFunnels support to address any platform bugs.

Final Thoughts

Testing your courses is a vital step in ensuring your students have a positive experience. By following these steps, you can catch any issues before they impact your customers. Remember, the better your course functions, the happier your students will be—and that’s good for everyone.

Additional FAQs

Can I test multiple courses at once?

Absolutely! You can enroll your test contact in as many courses as you’d like to test simultaneously. This is especially useful if you want to ensure that all your courses are functioning correctly before going live. Just follow the same steps to enroll your test contact in each course, and you’ll be able to access them all from the same account.

What if I don’t receive the course access emails?

First, double-check your spam or junk folder, as emails can sometimes end up there. If you still don’t see the emails, ensure that the email address you used for the test contact is correct. If everything looks good, try sending the enrollment email again from the contact’s profile in ClickFunnels. If the problem persists, you may want to check your email service provider’s settings to ensure that emails from ClickFunnels are not being blocked.

Can I test paid courses the same way?

Yes, you can test paid courses, but there’s an extra step involved. After creating your test contact, you’ll need to manually add the product required to access the course from the “Orders” tab in the contact’s profile. This step simulates the purchase process and ensures the contact has the necessary permissions to access the paid course. Once the product is added, you can follow the same process to enroll in and test the course.

How do I remove the test contact after testing?

Once you’re done testing, you can easily remove the test contact to keep your database clean. To do this, go to the contact profile in ClickFunnels, click on the manage contact dropdown in the top right and then  delete from the dropdown, and confirm the deletion. This will remove the test contact and all associated data, ensuring that your list remains tidy and accurate.

What should I do if I find an issue during testing?

If you encounter any problems while testing, note down the specific issue and the steps you took to reproduce it. You can then return to your ClickFunnels course settings to make any necessary adjustments. If the issue seems to be a bug or something you can’t fix, feel free to reach out to us at Repair My Funnel. We can often provide a workaround while you also report the bug to ClickFunnels support.

Can I test my course from a mobile device?

Yes, testing from a mobile device is a great idea! Since many users may access your course on their phones or tablets, it’s important to ensure that the course is mobile-friendly. Simply open the course access email on your mobile device, follow the same steps to log in, and navigate through the course to see how it looks and functions on a smaller screen.
