How to Set Up a Domain in ClickFunnels 2.0 Using Namecheap: A Step-by-Step Guide

Hey there! In this guide, I'll walk you through manually setting up a domain in ClickFunnels 2.0 that is hosted with Namecheap. Sometimes, the automatic setup through a third-party app called Entry doesn't work, so it's handy to know how to do it manually. Let's dive in!

Step 1: Gather Your Essentials

Before we start, ensure you have:

  • A Namecheap account with a domain
  • A ClickFunnels 2.0 account

Step 2: Log into Your Accounts

  • Open both your Namecheap and ClickFunnels accounts in separate tabs.
  • In ClickFunnels, navigate to your workspace.

Step 3: Navigate to Domain Settings

  • In ClickFunnels, go to your workspace settings.
  • Click on "Domains."
  • Choose "Connect an existing domain."

Step 4: Enter Your Domain

  • Copy your domain from Namecheap.
  • Paste it into ClickFunnels, ensuring you include "www." at the beginning to avoid errors.
  • Click "Continue" and then "Verify."

Step 5: Manual DNS Setup

  • Click "Show DNS Table" to see the DNS records you need to add in Namecheap.
  • Open your domain settings in Namecheap and navigate to "Advanced DNS."

Step 6: Add DNS Records in Namecheap

1. TXT Record:

  • Click "Add New Record" and select "TXT."
  • For the host, enter "@" and paste the provided value from ClickFunnels.

2. CNAME Record:

  • Add a new record, select "CNAME."
  • For the host, enter "www" and paste the provided value.

3. Additional TXT Records:

  • Repeat the process for any additional TXT records provided by ClickFunnels.

4. SPF Record:

  • Add another TXT record for SPF. Host should be "@" and paste the value provided.

5. DMARC Record:

  • Add another TXT record for DMARC. Host should be "_dmarc" and paste the value.

6. Additional CNAME Mailer Record:

  • Add another CNAME record as specified. Host should be "cf2mail" and paste the value.

Step 7: Set Up URL Forwarding

  • In Namecheap, set up a URL redirect to ensure that your domain works with or without "www."
  • In the domain settings, add a redirect from https://yourdomain.com to https://www.yourdomain.com.
  • Save the changes.

Step 8: Verify Your Domain in ClickFunnels

  • Return to ClickFunnels and click "Validate Ownership."
  • Wait for the validation process. This can take a few minutes up to 24 hours.

Step 9: Final Checks and Connect to Funnels

  • Once validated, you can click "Check Connection" to ensure all DNS records are correctly set up.
  • If all checks are green, your domain is ready to use.
  • To connect your domain to a funnel, go to your funnel settings in ClickFunnels, select your domain from the dropdown, and update the funnel.

Conclusion

That's it! You've successfully set up your Namecheap domain in ClickFunnels 2.0. If you follow these steps and take your time, you should have no issues. Remember, DNS changes can take a bit to propagate, so be patient if it doesn't work immediately. Typically everything will be good to go after about 30 minutes.
