How to Enable Two-Factor Authentication in ClickFunnels 2.0 (Step-by-Step)

Hey there! Hope you’re having an awesome day.

Let’s talk about keeping your ClickFunnels 2.0 account secure—because, let’s be honest, the last thing you want is some hacker breaking in and stealing your funnels. Imagine logging in one day to find your pages gone, your automations messed up, or worse—someone rerouting your sales to their account. Nightmare fuel, right?

This is why enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is one of the smartest things you can do. It adds an extra layer of security beyond just your password, making it nearly impossible for hackers to access your account—even if they somehow get your login details.

In this step-by-step guide, I’ll walk you through exactly how to enable 2FA in ClickFunnels 2.0, why it’s important, and best practices to keep your account as locked down as Fort Knox.

Let’s dive in! 🔐

What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and Why Does It Matter?

🔹 The Problem: Passwords Alone Aren’t Enough

Let’s face it—passwords are weak on their own. Even if you use a super-strong password like Tr0ub4dor&3 (which, ironically, isn’t as strong as you think), it could still be:

✅ Guessed (especially if you reuse passwords)
✅ Leaked (if another site gets hacked and you use the same password)
✅ Stolen (through phishing scams or malware)

🔹 The Solution: Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

With 2FA enabled, even if someone gets your password, they still can’t log in without a special code from your phone. It’s like having a deadbolt on your door instead of just a basic lock.

So let’s lock things down, shall we?

Step-by-Step: How to Enable 2FA in ClickFunnels 2.0

Step 1: Access Your User Settings

  • Log into ClickFunnels 2.0 as you normally would.
  • In the bottom-left corner, find your profile icon and click it.
  • In the dropdown, click User Settings.

🔹 Troubleshooting Tip: If you don’t see the option for User Settings, make sure you’re logged in as the account owner or admin. Some team members may have limited access.

Step 2: Enable Two-Factor Authentication

  • Scroll down to the section labeled Two-Factor Authentication.
  • Click the Enable 2FA button.
  • A QR code will appear on the screen.

📌 What’s this QR code for?
This is a special security key that links your ClickFunnels account to an authentication app on your phone.

Step 3: Download & Set Up an Authentication App

To generate your 2FA codes, you’ll need an authenticator app. Here are your options:

✅ Google Authenticator (Most popular)
✅ Authy (Syncs across devices)

🔹 How to Set It Up:

  • 1. Open your phone’s App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
  • 2. Search for and install Google Authenticator (or your preferred app).
  • 3. Open the app and select Scan a QR Code.
  • 4. Hold your phone up to your computer screen and scan the QR code from ClickFunnels.

Step 4: Enter Your 2FA Code & Verify

  • After scanning, your authenticator app will generate a 6-digit security code.
  • Enter this code into ClickFunnels.
  • Click Verify.

🎉 Success! You’re almost done. But before you celebrate, there’s one last crucial step…

Step 5: Save Your Recovery Codes (Seriously, Do This!)

After enabling 2FA, ClickFunnels will provide you with recovery codes. These are LIFESAVERS if you ever lose access to your phone.

🔹 Where to Store Them:
✔️ Use a password manager like 1Password or LastPass.
✔️ Write them down in a notebook (and store it in a safe place).
✔️ Save them in a secure, password-protected file on your computer.

🚨 What NOT to Do:
❌ Don’t screenshot them and leave them in your camera roll.
❌ Don’t email them to yourself.
❌ Don’t keep them in a plain text file on your desktop.

Once you’ve saved your recovery codes, click Enable 2FA, and you’re all set!

And That’s It—Your Account is Now Extra Secure! 🎉

From now on, every time you log in to ClickFunnels 2.0, you’ll need to enter a 6-digit authentication code from your phone. This makes it virtually impossible for hackers to break in.

✅ You just made your ClickFunnels account significantly more secure. Give yourself a high five! 🙌

Additional FAQs

What if I lose my phone or delete my authentication app?

If you lose your phone or delete your authentication app, don’t panic—you’re not permanently locked out. The first thing to do is check your recovery codes. When you set up 2FA, ClickFunnels gave you a list of backup codes. If you saved them (hopefully you did!), you can use one of those to log in. Once you’re in, you can disable 2FA temporarily, set up a new authentication app, and re-enable it. If you got a new phone but still have access to your old one, you may be able to transfer your authentication codes manually. If you use Authy, for example, it allows you to sync your 2FA codes across multiple devices, which makes switching phones much easier. But if you didn’t save your recovery codes and no longer have access to your authentication app, you’ll need to contact ClickFunnels support. Be ready to verify your identity with account details like your billing info or recent login locations.

Can I turn off 2FA later?

Yes, you can turn off 2FA, but we really don’t recommend it. Once it’s off, your account is only protected by your password, which makes it a much easier target for hackers. However, if you still want to disable it, you can go to your User Settings, find the Two-Factor Authentication section, and click Disable 2FA (you may need to enter a verification code first). Keep in mind that if your account contains valuable funnels, payment integrations, or customer data, keeping 2FA on is the best way to protect it. Hackers actively target accounts without 2FA because they’re easier to break into, so unless you have a very good reason, it’s best to leave it on.

Do I have to use Google Authenticator?

No, you don’t! ClickFunnels 2.0 supports both Google Authenticator and Authy, so you can use either one. While Google Authenticator is the most commonly used, Authy offers a few extra features, like multi-device sync and cloud backup, which can be really helpful if you ever lose access to your phone. If you don’t have either app installed yet, just download one from the App Store or Google Play, and you’ll be good to go. Keep in mind that Microsoft Authenticator and other authentication apps won’t work with ClickFunnels 2.0 at this time.

Will I need to enter a 2FA code every time I log in?

Yes, every time you log in to ClickFunnels 2.0, you’ll be required to enter a 6-digit authentication code from your authenticator app. Unlike some platforms that let you stay logged in or “trust” a device, ClickFunnels does not currently offer that option. This means that even if you’re using the same computer every day, you’ll still need to enter a new 2FA code each time you log in. While this might seem a bit inconvenient, it’s actually a good thing—it ensures that even if someone gets ahold of your password, they still can’t access your account unless they also have your authentication device. If you use ClickFunnels frequently, keeping Google Authenticator or Authy easily accessible on your phone will make the process quick and hassle-free.

Can I use text messages (SMS) instead of an authentication app?

No, ClickFunnels 2.0 does not support SMS-based authentication for 2FA. Some platforms allow you to receive login codes via text message, but ClickFunnels only supports app-based authentication through Google Authenticator or Authy. This is actually a security advantage—SMS authentication is far less secure because phone numbers can be stolen through SIM-swapping attacks or intercepted by hackers. Using an authentication app ensures that your codes stay on your device only, making it much harder for anyone else to gain access to your account.

What if my 2FA code isn’t working?

If your 6-digit authentication code isn’t working, there are a few possible reasons. First, make sure you’re entering the latest code—these codes refresh every 30 seconds, so if you take too long, it may have expired. If that’s not the issue, check your phone’s date and time settings. Authentication apps rely on precise time synchronization, so if your phone’s clock is even slightly off, your codes may not work. Go to your phone’s settings and enable automatic time updates to fix this. If you’re still having trouble, try using one of your recovery codes to log in. If none of these solutions work, you may need to contact ClickFunnels support for further assistance.
